Meet Our Midwives

Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs) are licensed healthcare practitioners, educated in the two disciplines of nursing and midwifery; and are certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board.  They provide primary healthcare to women of all ages and stages of life, including adolescence, pregnancy, and pre and post-menopause.  Their healthcare services to women include prenatal care, labor and delivery and after-delivery care to mother and baby, annual well-woman exams, preconception care and management of contraception needs, as well as management of menopausal symptoms.  Empowering women through education about disease prevention and health promotion strategies, with respect to their unique social and cultural background, is a primary focus of midwifery care.  The word, “midwife”, literally means “with woman”, and midwives consider themselves more as a partner than a provider to women.  The slogan of the American College of Nurse-Midwives is, “listen to women”, and the midwives at Women’s Health Specialists will listen to whatever our patients have to say.

The American College of Nurse-Midwives has a wonderful web site the provides women with a wide array of healthcare information.  www.mymidwife.org

Cindi is a 1993 graduate of the Nurse-Midwifery program at the University of Medicine and Dentistry at Newark, New Jersey.  Her earliest birthing experience includes attending home and birth center births in Berks County, Pennsylvania.  She received additional experience at Polyclinic Hospital in Harrisburg.  Cindi has been providing quality obstetric and well-woman care to the women of Central Pennsylvania since 1993.  While not delivering babies, she enjoys spending time with her two adult daughters and their families, including her 9-year old granddaughter.  Her interests include hiking, reading and home repair, and she is a student of Kung Fu.

Cindi believes that as a women’s health care provider, it is her responsibility and privilege to provide supportive, sensitive care and information so that women can make healthy and satisfying decisions about their personal health practices.  “I feel honored to be able to be a part of a woman’s journey through adolescence, childbearing and menopause.”

Pam Kozick, CNM

Nurse Midwife Pam Kozick

Pam has been a certified nurse-midwife since 1996.   She received a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Villanova University in 1977, and practiced obstetrical nursing in a variety of settings around the country.  Her own personal experience with a midwife for her second pregnancy, motivated her to pursue graduate school; and she attended the University of Pennsylvania, where she received her Master’s degree in nursing, with a certificate in nurse-midwifery.  Pam has worked in Carlisle, Pennsylvania since becoming a midwife, and prefers the family-centered care that Carlisle Regional Medical Center has to offer.  Providing individualized care for women experiencing peri-menopausal symptoms is a special area of interest of Pam’s, and she offers customized compounded bio-identical hormone therapy.

Pam is a member of the American College of Midwives, and resides in Dillsburg, Pennsylvania with her husband, Steve.  She has three children, and her hobbies include gourmet cooking, gardening and hiking in the Appalachian Mountains with her husband and dogs.
